Description

Brawa 44648 H0 railcar BR 425, DBAG, DB-Regio-NRW, Ep.VI Product Details

From the end of the 1990s, DB AG procured numerous new vehicles for use in regional transport, most of which were designed as railcars. From 1999 to 2008, the Siemens / Adtranz / Bombardier / DWA consortium also procured 249 units of a four-car electric multiple-unit train, which was designated the BR 425. An identical two-car variant for less frequented routes was created as the BR 426. The car bodies are made of extruded aluminum profiles and the windows are glued flush. The car bodies are supported on Jacobs bogies underneath each other, the end bogies are each driven by two three-phase traction motors. The interior of the coach train is completely accessible and has a total of 206 seats and 228 standing places. There are 24 seats in the first class compartment and 30 seats are folding seats. The 425s were and are used by DB Regio NRW; Baden- Württemberg; Südwest; Bayern; Südost; Nord; Schleswig-Holstein and Berlin; private rail transport companies did not purchase any of these railcars. Their tasks include service in S-Bahn networks, such as that of the Rhine-Neckar transport association in the Ludwigshafen - Mannheim - Heidelberg triangle, as well as operations as RE trains on long-distance routes. These include, for example, Mannheim - Saarbrücken - Trier or Magdeburg - Stendal - Wittenberge - Salzwedel.
