With the newly designed model of the Piko 52883 VT 2.09 diesel railcar, PIKO fulfills the wish of many model railroaders for a modern and operational version of the well-known "Ferkeltaxe". It is driven by a powerful miniature motor equipped with flywheels for optimum running characteristics. Thanks to the factory-installed buffer capacitor, the model can run smoothly even in changeable conditions without sound interruptions. The railcar is driven by both axles, which ensures excellent power transmission and smooth running characteristics.

The motor car and control car of the model are connected to each other via current-carrying close-coupling kinematics. This not only ensures safe operation, but also makes it possible to control the lighting functions of both vehicles separately. The railcar also independently registers whether a control car is coupled and switches off the lighting between the cars if necessary.

Innovative sound and lighting technology

The model is equipped ex works with a PIKO SmartDecoder 4.1 Sound for PluX22, which supports the latest technologies, including the data formats DCC with RailComPlus®, Motorola® and Selectrix®. The loudspeaker has been specially adapted to the rail bus and offers crystal-clear reproduction of the typical engine sounds as well as other switchable functions such as signal horns and brake noises. The sound is also available in analog mode, whereby only the engine noise can be heard.

The model's tail light and interior lighting can also be switched digitally, giving you maximum control over the lighting effects on your layout. Particularly noteworthy is the factory-integrated interior lighting, which creates an atmospheric ambience even in the dark.
