Description

Brawa 45494 H0 Compartment Car B3tr, DRG, Era II Product Details

Brawa 45494 H0 B3tr Compartment Car, DRG, Era II – Historical Accuracy for Classic Model Railroads

With the B3tr compartment car, Brawa brings another authentic representative of Era II to the model railroad tracks. The car is based on the widely used Prussian compartment cars, which formed an important backbone of passenger transport after the founding of the Deutsche Reichsbahn-Gesellschaft (DRG)—especially in the southwestern regions of Germany.

Prussian Heritage for Reichsbahn Operations

After 1920, it became apparent that many car fleets were severely outdated. As a result, approximately 2,500 Prussian compartment cars were transferred to Rbd districts in southwestern Germany, and around 1,000 were sent to Saxony. Later, older freight cars were converted into third-class seating cars, which were classified as C3u Pr 04/30. Even though their origins were sometimes difficult to discern, these cars shaped the appearance of numerous trains well into the 1930s. Over time, many were fitted with new sheet metal paneling, eliminating the original cover strips—a typical feature of late Reichsbahn modifications.

Sophisticated model technology in 1:87 scale

The car impresses with a multitude of fine details: built-in interior fittings, intricate printing, and realistic coloring make it a harmonious part of historic train sets. Many attached components create a sense of depth, while the pre-installed interior lighting also allows for use during nighttime or twilight runs.

Reliable operation and versatile use

The car is equipped with close-coupling mechanism and is suitable for radius R360. For AC operators, Brawa recommends using replacement wheel sets No. 2187 (for the outer axles only). The middle pair of wheelsets remains unchanged to ensure full functionality in curves.
