Description

Brawa 47995 Gedeckter Güterwagen ZE “Fisketransportvogn“ der DSB, Ep. III Product Details

About the model: The ZE "Fisketransportvogn" boxcar is a Danish State Railways model and is from Era III. The many other details about this beautiful model can be found under the features.

About the prototype: The introduction of welding technology starting in 1933 led to the German State Railroad increasingly switching from joining the components of their cars with rivets to welding. The main advantage of welding technology was the weight saving, which could be used to reduce the load weight. In order to meet the demand for higher speeds in general cargo transportation, the DR developed the "Gs Oppeln" from 1936. Due to its 6000 mm wheelbase, its maximum permissible speed could be set at 90 km/h. In addition to the elimination of gusset plates due to the welding technology, this type of wagon was mainly distinguished by its pointed bogie, which had become necessary due to the long wheelbase. The sharp rise in demand for freight wagons as a result of the war led to series production of the "G Oppeln" from 1938. In the following years, around 28,000 wagons without hand brakes and 6,100 wagons with hand brakes were produced. Many of the wagons were also equipped with steam or even electric heating and could therefore be used as general cargo wagons in express and fast trains without any problems. At the end of the Second World War, the wagons were distributed throughout Europe and were used by the railroad administrations of Austria, Czechoslovakia, Poland and Belgium, for example. The reorganization of the vehicle numbers of the young German Federal Railways led to the "Gs Oppeln" becoming the "Gms 30" at the beginning of the 1950s. Some of the wagons even became part of the EUROP wagon fleet and thus became internationally operational. With the arrival of the first new freight wagons towards the end of the 1950s, the decision was made against an expensive full refurbishment. With the introduction of the UIC numbering system, the remaining wagons were renumbered as "Glms 200" and some survived until 1979.
