Brawa 50072 H0 Open goods wagon E, SNCB, Ep.IV- In the 1950s, the UIC (Union Internationale de Chemins de Fer) developed two variants of open freight cars, the UIC type I and II, in order to standardize the European freight car fleets. The UIC type II, with a length of 10.0 m and 5.4 m wheelbase, was heavily based on pre-war German models and was completely welded. From 1954, the Deutsche Bundesbahn built 10,589 type Omm54 wagons at the Kaiserslautern depot, and later also 17,300 Omm55 wagons with new KE brakes. These wagons were used until 1994. Other European railroads, including the SNCB, also adopted this type of wagon.
