Brawa 50625 H0 Bulk Car Fads 177, DB, Era IV Product Details
Brawa 50625 H0 Bulk Cargo Car Fads 177, DB, Era IV – Deutsche Bundesbahn Ore Specialist
Are you looking for an authentic car for realistic ore block trains from the 1970s? The Brawa 50625 Fads 177 brings a particularly distinctive example of the DB’s heavy bulk freight service to your model railroad—with its strikingly low profile and ideal for use in classic block trains.
High-quality detailing for bulk cargo service
With a length over buffers of 137 mm and close-coupling mechanism, the car is ideally suited for long train formations. The multi-part braking system with brake shoes at wheel level, fine printing and paintwork, as well as separately attached signal holders underscore the model’s excellent quality. Road number: 31 80 696 4 055-1.
The prototype – Fads 177 with low side walls for older loading facilities
To complement the Fads 175 and 176, the Deutsche Bundesbahn also began procuring the Fads 177 type in 1969. These cars had significantly lower car bodies and were specifically designed for ore transport at older loading facilities. In combination with BA 664 or Y25 bogies, they offered optimal conditions for heavy block train operation.
In service in the classic ore block trains of the 1970s
The Fads 177 were used almost exclusively for ore transport—particularly on the Emsland route from the Port of Emden to the steel mills in the Ruhr and Saar regions. There, they ran in fixed rotations with up to 50 cars per train, hauled by two BR 044 or 043 locomotives—an impressive sight in Bundesbahn freight traffic.
Ideal for combining with Fads 175, 176, or Fals cars
To create a realistic freight train, these cars can be excellently combined with other Fads/Fals models. The matching locomotives: BR 044, BR 151, or BR 140—depending on the operational area and prototypical representation.
A must-have for Era IV fans focused on heavy-haul traffic
With the Brawa 50625 Fads 177, you’re getting an exceptional prototypical vehicle for ore transport on the German Federal Railroad—compact, solid, and absolutely true to the prototype.
