Description

Brawa 50680 Schüttgutwagen Fals 186 der DB AG, Ep. VI (3er-Set) Product Details

About the model: BRAWA is offering the 3-part set of DB AG Era VI Fals 186 bulk freight cars. Each car has a car number (81 80 665 9 055-0 / 81 80 665 9 044-4 / 81 80 665 9 037-8). The prototypical models have period-appropriate lettering and paint as well as extra signal brackets and a multi-part brake system with brake shoes at wheel level. The length over buffers is 412.2 mm.

About the prototype: From 1969, the DB procured several types of open self-unloading wagons for transporting large quantities of bulk goods that were not sensitive to moisture, such as ore, coal and coke. In addition to the Fads 176 according to the UIC standard, the Fads 175 were created, which differed according to the more specific guideline of UIC leaflet 571.3, among other things in the flap closures. The Fads 177 was also built on the same basic design. In order to ensure problem-free goods handling in older loading facilities, the Fads 177, in contrast to the Fads 175, had very low upper bodies and were used exclusively for ore traffic. All types were delivered with bogies of BA 664, 664.1 and in some cases already Y25. The latter were also used in the 1990s to replace the BA 644 bogies, which were prone to cracking. The coaches were used almost exclusively in block trains. Particularly at the beginning of their service life, the ore transports from the port of Emden to the Ruhr and Saar regions stood out. On the Emsland route, the trains, each consisting of two 25-car train sections and weighing up to 4000 tons, were usually pulled by two class 044/043 locomotives until October 1977.
