Description

Brawa 50692 H0 Bulk Cargo Car Fals 176, DB, Era IV Product Details

Brawa 50692 H0 Bulk Freight Car Fals 176, DB, Era IV – Heavy-duty car for transporting raw materials in the 1970s

Would you like to authentically recreate the massive bulk freight traffic of the Deutsche Bundesbahn on your model railroad layout? With the Brawa 50692 Fals 176, you’ll get a typical vehicle for block train operations carrying coal, coke, or ore in Era IV—richly detailed and designed for realistic operation.

Finely detailed and ideal for block train formations

The car measures 137 mm over buffers and features NEM-compliant close-coupling kinematics for smooth train transitions. With fine printing and paintwork, a multi-part brake system with brake shoes at wheel level, and separately attached signal holders, the model impresses with its high level of detail. Road number: 31 80 696 1 893-8.

The Prototype – The Fals 176 in DB’s Heavy-Haul Service

Starting in the late 1960s, the DB increasingly relied on modern open self-unloading cars for bulk cargo. The Fals 176 model was manufactured to UIC standards and was particularly robust. Together with the Fals 175 and Fals 177 variants, they were a staple of the long block trains used for ore and coal transport. Equipped with BA 664, 664.1, or Y25 bogies, these cars proved their worth over decades of heavy-haul service.

Service in classic bulk freight trains

The cars operated almost exclusively in block trains—often as 50-car trains with a total weight of up to 4,000 metric tons, hauled by two locomotives of the 044 or 043 series. The most important routes ran from the Port of Emden to the steel mills in the Ruhr and Saar regions.

Ideal for combining with other Fals/Fads cars

For a realistic train scene, combine this car with other self-unloading cars from the Fals 175/176/177 series. The appropriate locomotives for train service: BR 043/044, BR 140, BR 151, or BR 232—depending on the era and region.

A must-have for anyone who wants to recreate heavy-haul operations on their model railroad

The Brawa 50692 brings the atmosphere of 1970s heavy-haul rail traffic to your layout with meticulous attention to detail—precisely crafted and highly versatile.
