Brawa 50693 H0 Bulk Car Fals 175, DB, Era IV Product Details
Brawa 50693 H0 Bulk Car Fals 175, DB, Era IV – Bundesbahn bulk car for heavy-haul trains
Are you looking for a typical self-unloading car for the Deutsche Bundesbahn’s heavy bulk freight transport? The Brawa 50693 Fals 175 brings the characteristic appearance and functionality of the 1970s to your H0 layout—ideal for realistic block trains carrying coal, ore, or coke.
Highly detailed model with prototypical accuracy
With a length over buffers of 137 mm and close-coupling kinematics, this car can be easily used in block trains or mixed freight trains. The fine printing and paint finish, multi-part brake system with brake shoes at wheel level, and separately attached signal holders ensure a harmonious overall appearance. Road number: 31 80 665 0 521-1.
The Prototype – The Fals 175 in block train service
Starting in 1969, the Deutsche Bundesbahn procured a large number of open self-unloading cars. The Fals 175 was developed according to the exact specifications of UIC Leaflet 571.3 and differed from its sister models in technical details such as the flap closures. Together with the Fads 176 and the lower-profile Fads 177, it formed the backbone of the transport system for bulk cargoes that were not sensitive to moisture.
A heavy-duty car for coal and ore
The Fals 175 ran in block trains of up to 50 cars with a total weight of up to 4,000 metric tons—often on the Emsland route from the Port of Emden to steel mills in the Ruhr region. Steam locomotives of the BR 044/043 class or, later, electric locomotives of the BR 140/151 class were frequently used for these runs.
Indispensable for realistic train formations
Combinable with other Fals, Fads, or Fal cars, this model allows you to build a convincing bulk freight train—perfect for DRG industrial scenes, coal mines, or ore loading operations from Era IV.
A must-have for freight rail enthusiasts with an eye for detail
With the Brawa 50693, you’ll add a precision-crafted model to your layout—robust, authentic, and versatile for use in historical DB heavy-haul scenarios.
