Description

Brawa 50694 H0 Bulk Cargo Car Fals 175, DB, Era IV Product Details

Brawa 50694 H0 Bulk Freight Car Fals 175, DB, Era IV – Specialized in bulk freight transport in block train service

Are you looking for a true-to-life self-unloading car for your Era IV freight trains? The Brawa 50694 Fals 175 brings a typical example of the heavy-duty DB bulk freight cars to your layout—ideal for use in long block trains carrying ore, coal, or coke.

Rich in detail and ready for operation

With a length over buffers of 137 mm and NEM-compliant close-coupling kinematics, the car integrates perfectly into freight train formations. It features fine printing and paintwork, a multi-part braking system with brake shoes at wheel level, as well as separately attached signal brackets. The craftsmanship meets the highest standards of detail. Road number: 31 80 665 0 677-1.

The Prototype – The Fals 175 as a Block Train Workhorse

As a further development of earlier models, the Deutsche Bundesbahn began procuring large numbers of self-unloading cars starting in 1969. The Fals 175 was designed in accordance with UIC Circular 571.3 and differed from the Fads 176 in several respects, including its specific flap closures. The cars were equipped with type 664 or, later, Y25 bogies and were intended for heavy-haul service on fixed routes—primarily for moisture-insensitive bulk goods such as ore and coke.

Freight transport on a grand scale—faithfully recreated

The cars were primarily used in block trains with a total weight of up to 4,000 metric tons—for example, from the Port of Emden to the Ruhr region. Here, they were usually operated in 50-car trains, hauled by two Class 043/044 steam locomotives or, later, by Class 151 electric locomotives.

The perfect addition to heavy freight trains of the 1970s and 1980s

This car combines excellently with other Fals, Fads, and Fad cars. On the locomotive side, Class 043, 140, 150, 151, or 232 locomotives fit perfectly into the operational concept. It’s also an ideal addition for model railroads with loading facilities or steel mills.

A must-have for realistic Era IV bulk freight operations

With the Brawa 50694, you get a high-quality model that closely resembles the prototype and is operationally relevant—ideal for heavy-haul model railroad layouts in the style of the DB from the 1970s.
