Description

Brawa 50695 H0 Bulk Car Fals 176, DB, Era IV Product Details

Brawa 50695 H0 Bulk Car Fals 176, DB, Era IV – Open Self-Unloading Car for Bulk Freight Transport

Are you looking for an authentic bulk freight car for your Era IV freight trains? The Brawa 50695 Fals 176 from the Deutsche Bundesbahn is designed for the high-volume transport of moisture-resistant goods such as ore, coal, or coke—an indispensable model for realistic block trains carrying heavy loads.

A highly detailed model with a striking appearance

With a length over buffers of 137 mm and close-coupling mechanism, the car is ideally suited for use in block trains or mixed freight trains. Equipped with fine printing and paintwork, a multi-part braking system with brake shoes at wheel level, and separately attached signal holders, the car offers outstanding prototypical accuracy. Road number: 31 80 665 2 298-5.

The Prototype – The Fals 176 in Heavy Ore Transport

Starting in 1969, the Deutsche Bundesbahn significantly expanded its fleet of open self-unloading cars. The Fals 176 cars are based on the basic design of the Fads cars but were manufactured with modified loading hatches and in accordance with specific UIC guidelines. Designed for all types of bulk cargo, these cars frequently ran in dedicated block trains—particularly on routes such as Emden–Ruhr region or to the Saarland. They were mostly hauled by heavy freight locomotives such as the BR 044 or BR 151.

A must-have for heavy-haul trains of the 1970s and 1980s

The Fals 176 was delivered with various bogies—including the proven BA 664 and Y25. It was primarily used in block train service from port terminals to steel mills and large power plants.

Ideal for era-accurate train formations

Can be combined with other Fals, Fads, or Fad cars—perfect for model railroad scenarios featuring loading facilities, plant connections, or yard operations. Perfectly complemented on the locomotive side by locomotives such as the BR 140, BR 151, or BR 232.

Realistic bulk cargo transport on your layout

With the Brawa 50695, you get a powerful model with high recognition value—technically precise, faithfully reproduced, and ready for heavy freight service on your H0 layout.
