Description

Brawa 50917 H0 Behältertragwagen BTs30, DB, Ep.III 'Südmilch' Product Details

The Brawa 50917 H0 German Railroad (DB) BTs30 container transport car from Era III, marked "Südmilch", represents a container transport car that was introduced on a large scale after the Second World War. The pa container system was already in use before the war, but the war halted its further spread. In 1949, DB took up the system again and began to transport standardized large containers with rail and road vehicles. Old underframes from pre-war wagons were used for the new containers, including type Omm 34 bogies, which were listed as BT(hs) 30 in a common number range with other converted wagons.

A total of 273 BT 30s were converted from various donor types. From 1952, the construction of new container wagons began. The last converted BT 30 wagons left service in 1971 after they had been renumbered Lb(r)s577. The containers were used for a variety of loads, including liquids, foodstuffs such as beer and frozen goods. With the advent of containers from the end of the 1960s, pa containers were increasingly displaced and their use finally came to an end in the late 1990s.
