Description

Brawa 51152 H0 Refrigerated Car Ibps-v, SBB, Era IV Product Details

Brawa 51152 H0 Ibps-v Refrigerated Car, SBB, Era IV – Universal refrigerated car built to UIC standards in the Swiss version

Are you looking for an authentic refrigerated car for your Era IV freight trains with an international flair? The Brawa 51152 Ibps-v from the SBB is a typical example of UIC Standard 1—the most widely built type of refrigerated car in Europe. Featuring detailed construction and typical Swiss lettering, this model is ideal for international refrigerated transport in the 1960s and 1970s.

Finely detailed model for international service

With a length over buffers of 135 mm and NEM-compliant close-coupling mechanism, this car is universally versatile. The model features bogie frames with three-point mounting, metal axle bearings, wheel sets in center-bearing arrangement, and a multi-part braking system with brake shoes at wheel level. Separately attached railings highlight the technical attention to detail. Road number: 42 85 805 7 010-2.

The prototype – UIC Standard 1 refrigerated car

The International Union of Railways (UIC) developed several vehicle types to standardize European freight transport—including the “Standard 1” refrigerated car. Starting in the 1960s, approximately 6,500 of these cars were put into service in many European countries, including by the SBB. The cars were either procured directly by national railways or integrated into the fleet as privately owned cars—often through Interfrigo. They were usually equipped with ice chambers that were filled via the end platforms.

A classic in refrigerated freight transport—even in Switzerland

The SBB used these cars to supply urban centers, deliver to large distribution centers, or transport meat and dairy products internationally. Their compact design and robust technology made them indispensable—hardly any international freight train could do without these refrigerated cars.

Perfect for international and domestic refrigerated trains

Combine this car with other refrigerated cars, covered freight cars, or container cars. Compatible with SBB locomotives such as the Re 4/4 or Ae 6/6—also suitable for cross-border service with DB, SNCF, or ÖBB.

A model with European history—for collectors and model railroaders

The Brawa 51152 brings international diversity to your H0 layout—technically precise and faithfully representing the prototype. A must-have for anyone who wants to accurately recreate European rail freight transport.
