Description

Brawa 51246 H0 Gedeckter Güterwagen G, DRG, Ep. II Product Details

Brawa 51246 H0 Covered freight car G, DRG, Era II: A piece of railroad history

The Brawa 51246 H0 Covered freight car G is a detailed reproduction of a typical freight car of the German State Railroad Company (DRG) from Era II. This model authentically brings historical rail freight traffic to your model railroad layout and impresses with precise printing, the finest details and high-quality workmanship.

The prototype: The success story of the boxcars

The origins of the G covered freight wagon lie in the development of the German State Railway Wagon Association (DWV) from 1909. Based on the A2 pattern sheet, the wagons were built in large numbers from 1911 for the state railroads and later the DRG. With a wheelbase of 4.5 m and a load capacity of 15 tons, these wagons offered a high degree of flexibility in freight transport and became an indispensable part of rail freight transport.

The wagons were mainly used for the transportation of general cargo, raw materials and light loads. Thanks to continuous further development and the installation of air brakes, these wagons were also suitable for higher speeds and could be used in mixed freight and express trains. The DRG had an impressive fleet of over 121,770 cars of this type in operation by 1934.

Brawa - precision and attention to detail

Brawa impresses with the highest precision in the reproduction of historical models. The G boxcar is equipped with finely reproduced board joints, openwork car body supports and specially attached axle bearing covers. The precise printing and paintwork in DRG design emphasizes the historical authenticity of this model and makes it a real eye-catcher on your layout.

Technical details of the Brawa 51246 G car

The model has a length over buffers of 110.3 mm and is designed for the 2-wire direct current system (DC). Thanks to the close coupling kinematics and the NEM coupling shafts, the car can be easily integrated into trains. The wheelsets can optionally be changed to AC, making the model versatile.

Era II: The era of the Deutsche Reichsbahn-Gesellschaft

Era II (1920-1950) was characterized by the expansion and modernization of the railroad system. The DRG relied on tried-and-tested designs such as the type G train coach, which was characterized by its robustness and versatility. These wagons were used throughout the German rail network and made a decisive contribution to the development of national transport logistics.

Conclusion: An indispensable model for railroad enthusiasts

The Brawa 51246 H0 Covered Goods Wagon G is a must-have for model railroaders who want to recreate authentic train formations of Era II. With its true-to-original design, precise details and high-quality workmanship, this car is a perfect addition to historic freight trains.
