Description

Brawa 51343 H0 SSlm 16 Bogie Flat Car, DB, Era III Product Details

Brawa 51343 H0 SSlm 16 Bogie Flat Car, DB, Era III – A Classic Heavy-Duty Freight Car from the Early Bundesbahn Era

Are you looking for a highly detailed heavy-duty freight car for freight transport from the 1950s to the 1960s? The Brawa 51343 SSlm 16 from the Deutsche Bundesbahn brings one of the oldest and most enduring flatcar types to your H0 layout in an excellent model—ideal for long, heavy, or bulky cargo.

Model with a robust appearance and high precision

With an impressive length over buffers of 231 mm and NEM-compliant close-coupling mechanism, the car fits seamlessly into prototypical train formations. The die-cast zinc car floor ensures stability, while finely detailed undercarriage, add-on steps and handrails, brake system and axle brake linkage round out the model’s visual appeal. Metal wheel sets and axle bearing caps enhance running quality and realistic appearance. The car stanchions are plug-in and are included separately—cargo is not included.

The Prototype – Versatile Rail Car for Heavy Loads

The SSlm 16 is based on the Ce 168 design specification and was built in over 2,600 units between 1912 and 1928. With a loading length of 18 meters and a load capacity of 35 metric tons, it was designed to transport steel, machinery, lumber, or other large-format goods. The Deutsche Bundesbahn took over approximately 1,000 of these cars in the 1950s—a testament to their robustness and versatility.

Typical use in DB freight transport during Era III

With the road number 915 327, this model is assigned to the DB fleet. It was used for heavy-haul transport, often in combination with flat cars of other types or as a single car in transfer trains and plant-to-plant transport.

Ideal for custom loading scenarios

Since it comes without factory-installed cargo, the car is perfect for bringing your own cargo ideas to life: steel beams, logs, boilers, machinery, or historic vehicles. This makes every train unique and vibrant.

A heavyweight for realistic freight transport

The Brawa 51343 SSlm 16 combines intricate detailing with an authentic appearance and technical precision—a must-have for all model railroaders focused on realistic, classic freight trains.
