Description

Brawa 58180 H0 Express Train Car Aüm 203, DB, Era IV Product Details

The comfort of the classic Deutsche Bundesbahn – Brawa 58180 H0 Express Train Car Aüm 203, DB, Era IV

Would you like to expand your express train set with a stylish and prototypical car from the Deutsche Bundesbahn? The Brawa 58180 H0 Express Train Car Aüm 203, DB, Era IV offers the ideal solution. With precise scale accuracy, exquisite detailing, and appropriate technical features, this model perfectly captures the atmosphere of classic DB long-distance trains from the 1970s.

Prototype-accurate reproduction of the Aüm 203

The car bears the road number 51 80 10-40 237-9 and belongs to the DB’s Group 53, an iconic series of express train cars from the 1950s. With a length over the buffers of 303 mm in exact H0 scale (1:87), it is optimally proportioned and harmoniously complements any Era IV train set—whether as an F-train, D-train, or internationally operated long-distance train.

Technical Details & Prototype-Faithful Design

Equipped with finely crafted Type 094/096 bogies featuring corrugated wheel discs on both sides, separately attached steps and handrails, as well as a spring-loaded rubber-sealed connecting door, the Aüm 203 impresses with its uncompromising attention to detail. The G150-type alternator is also separately attached, as are other components on the undercarriage. The roof is modeled in the typical butt-welded design.

Comfort Features in the Model

Inside, you’ll find a period-accurate first-class interior, as was standard in the Group 53 A4ümg cars. The windows are rendered to scale, and the model is prepared for the installation of interior lighting. It is also compatible with the electric coupler from the BRAWA lineup, which increases operational flexibility.

The Prototype: Express Train Comfort of the 1950s and 1960s

Developed on behalf of the Federal Railroad Central Office in Minden, the Group 53 cars represented a milestone in long-distance rail travel. The 26.4-meter-long cars combined thoughtful design, greater comfort, and a modular interior concept. The Aüm203-type cars were primarily used on high-quality express trains (F-trains) and remained in service—in some cases modernized—well into the 1990s.

A highlight for classic DB trains of Era IV

The Brawa 58180 Aüm 203 Express Train Car is a must-have for all model railroaders who want to recreate trains from the Bundesbahn era in a stylish and realistic way. When combined with other cars of this type, it creates an authentic 1970s long-distance train—thoughtfully designed down to the last detail and ready for your layout.
