Model Information & Technical Specifications

Historical Prototype: Express Train Comfort in a Skirted Car

The Type 39 was developed in the late 1930s with the goal of improving the speed and comfort of passenger trains. After the war, the DB modernized many of the surviving cars for use on F-train and, later, D-train services. Until the mid-1970s, they were an integral part of express train service in West Germany.
