Brawa 61047 N diesel locomotive 132 339-3, DR, Ep.IV, DC-sound

After the 130 (top speed 140 km/h) and 131 (100 km/h) series, the DR put the 132 series (120 km/h) with electric heating into service in 1974. This configuration was the optimum machine for the DR. The DR therefore procured 709 locomotives from the factory in Voroshilovgrad. After a few initial problems, a reliable and versatile machine was available to the operating service. The locomotives delivered in the first year were almost without exception distributed to important depots with train hauling tasks in international passenger and freight traffic.
