Model information & technical data

The locomotive is manufactured for N gauge (scale 1:160) and measures 100 mm over buffers. It is designed for 2-wire direct current (DC) operation and is digitized at the factory, including sound function. The Next18 decoder is already installed. Thanks to the NEM 355 coupling shaft, the model is safe to operate and easy to integrate into existing train formations.

Technology & lighting

The locomotive is equipped with a 5-pole motor and offers prototypical speed and excellent tractive power thanks to drive on all axles. The LED headlights change white/red depending on the direction of travel, and there are also rear headlights and cab lighting - for maximum realism in operation.

Prototype history: The universal V160 / BR 216

The class 216 was one of the DB's best-known diesel locomotives and 214 units were built between 1964 and 1968. It was used for passenger and freight services and replaced the twin-engine V200 series. Its area of operation extended from northern Germany to the south, where it was also used under DB AG until the 2000s. The locomotive 216 143-8 shown here is one of the later series locomotives and was active until its retirement in 2004.
