The Hahnenkammbahn as an H0-Scale Model

High above the Austrian winter sports resort of Kitzbühel rises the 1,712-meter-high Hahnenkamm. The Hahnenkammbahn connects the valley station in Kitzbühel with the mountain station at an elevation of 1,658 meters, thereby providing access to one of the most famous winter sports regions in the Alps. The real-life cable car was built in 1996 as a single-cable circulating system and covers a distance of 2,356 m with an elevation gain of 872 m.

The cable car is particularly closely associated with the famous Hahnenkamm Race on the Streif. Among other things, the gondolas bear the names of victorious skiers from this international race. The Brawa model also features faithful-to-the-original lettering, adding a particularly authentic detail to the model railway layout.

Motion and Alpine Atmosphere

The model features a powerful, high-reduction, low-noise motor with an integrated gearbox. This allows the cable car to be effectively integrated into the layout’s operation. The modern circulating gondolas are modeled after designs in use worldwide and create a contemporary cable car effect.
