About the prototype: After the class 142 was no longer needed due to the decline in freight traffic in Germany, 18 "Holzroller" locomotives found a new home in Switzerland. They were purchased by Lokoop, adapted for use in Switzerland by installing an electric brake, among other things, and designated as Ae477. They were used by the Mittelthurgaubahn and Südostbahn, mainly for freight traffic and in front of passenger trains. Ae477 905 and 906, the former 242 191 and 157, were given a matching dark blue livery for traction on the historic Orient Express.
