ESU 31038 H0 E-Lok 162 004, Hectorrail, Ep. VI, DC+AC-Sound Product Details
ESU 31038 H0 Electric locomotive 162 004, Hectorrail, Ep. VI, DC+AC sound - Scandinavian freight train power on a German basis
With the ESU 31038 H0 electric locomotive 162 004, ESU is bringing a special variant of the proven BR 151 into the modern Era VI. The former German heavy freight locomotive lives on with the private Swedish railroad company Hectorrail - in a new design, but with the same impressive technology. This model combines the legendary power of the class 151 with a contemporary appearance in the Hectorrail gray/orange color scheme and state-of-the-art digital technology for AC and DC systems.
From DB to Hectorrail - the second life of the 151
Originally designed as a freight locomotive for the Deutsche Bundesbahn, the class 151 was later taken over by private railway companies - including Hectorrail. The Swedish company has continued to use the locomotive under the road number 162 004 since the 2010s. The prototype is shown in its condition around 2020 and symbolizes the successful transformation of a Bundesbahn classic into modern European freight transport.
Technically outstanding - model quality at ESU level
The model impresses with a newly developed metal frame and a powerful bell-shaped armature motor with flywheel mass. The LokSound 5 decoder provides a finely tuned soundscape. A slide switch in the locomotive floor enables reliable switching between two-wire (DC) and center conductor (AC) operation. This means that the locomotive is ideally equipped for all digital systems.
Versatile light and sound functions for realistic operation
The locomotive is equipped with numerous digitally switchable light functions: Starting lamps, cab, driver's desk and engine room lighting can be individually controlled. A high-quality loudspeaker with a large sound capsule produces rich, realistic sounds. The sensor-controlled curve squealing at slow speed also ensures an authentic sound experience on the layout.
Detailed design meets modern Hectorrail paintwork
The gray-orange Hectorrail design is precisely implemented and gives the locomotive a modern, unique appearance. Inside, the multi-colored engine room with a clear view is impressive. The model is complemented by digitally operated roof pantographs (single spar or scissors), spring-loaded buffers and the finest engravings - a must for modern freight train layouts and collectors of Era VI.
