ESU 31177 H0 E-Lok 103 104-8 TEE, DB, Ep. IV, DC+AC-Sound Product Details
Style icon of the 1970s: Deutsche Bundesbahn electric locomotive 103 104-8 TEE
The ESU 31177 H0 electric locomotive 103 104-8 represents an era of elegance and enthusiasm for technology on German rails. In the typical red and beige livery of the Trans-Europ-Express, this locomotive is presented in its condition around 1979 - in the middle of the heyday of high-quality long-distance transportation on the German Federal Railroad. The class 103 was the backbone of the TEE and later the InterCity service and symbolizes the combination of design, performance and German engineering like no other locomotive.
With its striking front, elegant curves and powerful appearance, the 103 attracted attention - both at stations and on the track. Inside, sophisticated technology proved its worth, easily handling even demanding high-speed runs with heavy trains. The 103 104-8 was one of the machines that met these requirements with flying colors and was regarded as a symbol of progress and speed in the Federal Republic of Germany.
Powerful model with digital fine-tuning
The model from ESU now brings this icon to H0 format with impressive precision. The body and chassis are made of robust metal, which not only ensures a realistic weight, but also long-lasting stability during operation. The powerful five-pole ESU motor with two flywheels ensures smooth running characteristics. Three axles are driven via cardan and worm drives, with four traction tires providing optimum traction.
The locomotive is prepared for use in both two-wire and center conductor systems and has a LokSound 5 decoder with original sounds from the class 103. Two digitally controllable pantographs and extensive LED lighting - including engine room, cab and driver's desk lighting - ensure a realistic overall appearance. Brake sparks, sensor-controlled curve noises and a switchable headlamp signal round off the digital experience.
