Description

ESU 31360 diesel locomotive C77 266 442, MEG, Ep. VI (incl. sound) DC+AC Product Details

ESU 31360 H0 Diesel locomotive C77 266 442 MEG, Era VI - Strong diesel power for freight traffic

The ESU 31360 C77 266 442 diesel locomotive in the version of the Mitteldeutsche Eisenbahn (MEG) is a powerful model replica of the Class 66/77, which was specially designed for freight traffic. With a length over buffers (LüP) of 247 mm and a comprehensive range of functions including sound and smoke, this model is an impressive representation of modern diesel technology on European rails. Thanks to the universal equipment, the locomotive is suitable for both direct current and alternating current systems.

The prototype: Class 66/77 - Efficient diesel locomotive for continental freight transportation

The Class 66, also known as the JT 42 CWR, was designed by the American Electro-Motive Division (EMD) as a robust and inexpensive freight locomotive for the European market. Its origins lie in the proven design of the SD40-2, which is known for its high load capacity and reliability. The second series, the Class 77, features modifications to the engine room doors and driver's cab and is now in service with various European railroad companies, including MEG. Powered by a powerful 12-cylinder two-stroke engine (12N-710G3B-EC) with 3194 hp and a starting tractive effort of 409 kN, the locomotive can handle heavy loads even on demanding routes and makes the Class 66/77 an important part of European freight transport.

ESU - precision and advanced technology

The ESU 31360 impresses with its detailed workmanship and high-quality technology. The body, frame and gearboxes are made of sturdy metal, making the model extremely robust. The roof is equipped with perforated fans which, together with the detailed driver's cab, including driver figure, round off the authentic appearance. The striking red MEG paintwork makes the model a visual highlight and ensures that it fits in well with modern Era VI freight trains.

Technical highlights of the ESU 31360 - digital technology and impressive sound

Equipped with a modern LokSound decoder and two high-quality loudspeakers, the locomotive produces realistic sounds that accurately reflect the original. The load-dependent smoke generator works synchronously with the engine noise and thus provides a realistic exhaust simulation. The smoke generator can be easily refilled using the pipette supplied, making operation particularly convenient.

The five-pole ESU motor with two flywheel masses ensures even power transmission to the four driven axles and thus guarantees high tractive power, which is additionally supported by four traction tires. The PowerPack storage capacitor ensures the power supply even on demanding track sections, guaranteeing smooth operation.

Flexible use on DC and AC systems

The ESU 31360 is suitable for operation on DC and AC systems. An integrated plug-in slider and a switch enable switching between two-wire and center conductor operation. The minimum radius of 360 mm ensures flexibility, making the model suitable for a wide variety of system layouts.

True-to-original color scheme and high-quality equipment

The model is presented in the red MEG livery, which is typical for Era VI. With separate grab rails, steps and detailed bogie covers, the locomotive shows a high degree of attention to detail, authentically reproducing the powerful and robust design of the Class 66/77. The solid construction and the angular body emphasize the characteristic design of this powerful diesel locomotive.

Quality and equipment for a long service life

The locomotive is made of robust materials, including a sturdy metal frame and sprung buffers, which increase protection and durability. The link-guided coupler in the NEM shaft ensures high compatibility with other H0 models and ensures stable operation on the layout. The model meets the highest demands and offers an impressive driving experience with its extensive technical equipment.

Lighting and additional effects

The ESU 31360 has a light change depending on the direction of travel as well as country-specific light functions that can be switched off on the train side. The driver's cab and driver's desk lighting can also be switched and enhance the realistic driving experience. Additional effects such as brake sparks and the smoke generator working in sync with the sound ensure an authentic and impressive playing experience.

Conclusion: The ESU 31360 diesel locomotive C77 266 442 MEG - A must for modern freight traffic

The ESU 31360 C77 266 442 diesel locomotive is a model for demanding model railroaders who value attention to detail and high-performance technology. With a variety of digital functions, realistic sound and synchronized smoke and light effects, this locomotive is an excellent choice for any H0 enthusiast. The combination of modern technology and authentic design makes this locomotive an indispensable part of any model railroad layout.
