With the ESU 31446 H0 diesel locomotive KG230 in the Portlux SA version, ESU brings a lovingly detailed and technically equipped small locomotive of Era IV to the model tracks. The robust port locomotive is presented in its prototype condition around 1985 in striking red and embodies the industrial charm of the 1970s and 80s - especially in logistics environments such as port facilities and freight handling areas.

KG230 - Proven technology for heavy-duty work in factory traffic

The Deutz KG230 B was developed from 1962 in the performance class of a Köf III for industrial and shunting operations. Equipped with a 230 hp, air-cooled twelve-cylinder or optionally water-cooled six-cylinder diesel engine, this two-axle locomotive proved itself at numerous large companies and works railroads. It was also in continuous hard use at Portlux SA - a logistics company based in Luxembourg. Its durable design and versatile adaptability made the KG230 the preferred solution for industrial operations.

Model with fine workmanship and high functionality

The model impresses with a heavy metal frame, filigree attachments and finely perforated fan grilles. The multi-colored driver's cab with inserted driver figure, free-standing handle bars, openwork steps and separately applied details on the chassis ensure an authentic look. The locomotive is powered by a quiet bell-shaped armature motor with a flywheel, supplemented by traction tires for optimum traction.

Digital powerhouse with sound, smoke and light

The factory-fitted LokSound 5 decoder provides realistic engine sounds for both engine variants. The synchronously operating smoke generator reinforces the prototypical character. Thanks to the PowerPack capacitor, the locomotive continues to run reliably even during power interruptions. Extensive lighting functions - including running gear lighting, shunting, driver's cab and driver's desk lighting as well as separately switchable headlights - make the model a highlight even at night. Brake sparks for heavy braking are also included.

Perfect for industrial scenery with harbor flair

With a length of only 92.3 mm over buffers, the model is ideal for compact harbor, factory or industrial facilities. The bold red paintwork in the style of Portlux SA goes perfectly with wagons from the era and makes the model an eye-catcher on any H0 layout. Two types of antenna and a pipette for filling the smoke generator are included.
