Fleischmann 724220 diesel locomotive BR218, DB AG, Ep. V

Starting in 1971, the German Federal Railroad put 398 series-produced class 218 locomotives into service and uses them in front of both passenger and freight trains. They are used on most non-electrified lines and reach a top speed of 140 km/h with an output of 1,840 kW. The class 218 has gone through a number of color variations over the years, with Orient red becoming the standard color from 1987.
