The Deutsche Bahn 218 131 diesel locomotive in a traffic red paint scheme with fine, separately applied plug-in parts and a rail scraper. From 1971, the Deutsche Bundesbahn put 398 BR 218 series locomotives into service and used them in front of both passenger and freight trains. They are used on most non-electrified lines and reach a top speed of 140 km/h with an output of 1,840 kW. The class 218 has undergone several color variations over the years, from 1997 traffic red became the standard color.
