The Swiss Federal Railways procured the type M5/Ks-w stake wagons, later Ks 330, in seven construction lots from 1959 to 1970. Stake wagons are mainly intended for the transportation of bulky goods. These include steel, wood, large machines and motor vehicles as well as prefabricated construction parts and heavy individual loads. They are also used to transport soil and gravel.
