Lenz -Elektronik GmbH. When Bernd Lenz founded "Bernd Lenz Elektronikentwicklung" in 1979, the idea of a digital model train control system was still a long way off. Five years later, in 1984, Lenz Elektronik GmbH was founded in Giessen, which in the following years played a leading role in the development and production of numerous digital components for model railway companies. Lenz sets milestones in digital development
In 1991, Lenz introduced the "Digital plus" innovation and presented the first locomotive decoder. A decisive step in the history of model railroads was the standardization of the Lenz digital system by the NMRA (National Model Railroad Association) in 1993. This marked the beginning of the worldwide DCC format (Digital Command Control), which is the most widely used digital system today. Within a decade, the Lenz Digital plus control system became the standard for digital multi-train control and opened up new possibilities for model railroaders worldwide.
