LGB 21484 - G Narrow gauge steam locomotive VII K, DR (Era IV)
The LGB 21484 is a detailed model of the legendary 99 1757-6 narrow gauge steam locomotive of the German State Railroad of the GDR. It belongs to the class 99.73-76, the former Saxon class VII K, and is presented in the characteristic design of Era IV - including the style-defining warning corners on the cab windows and the changed locomotive number with self-check digit, as introduced in the EDP age of the railroad.
Particularly authentic: The model shows the historical traces of the shortage in the GDR - such as the lack of factory plates, whose screw holes remain visible on the cylinders. This unique attention to detail is complemented by numerous other special features such as a wheel-synchronized steam output, digitally switchable light functions and a functional smoke chamber door with interior.
Technical details & digital equipment
The locomotive is powered by two motors with ball bearings, equipped with traction tires and a modern mfx/DCC decoder. It therefore offers extensive digital functions: direction of travel-dependent light change (white), cab and engine lighting, firebox flickering, sound (including steam whistle, driving noise), as well as wheel-synchronous steam output with cylinder steam via an integrated smoke generator.
Thanks to its articulated running gear, the locomotive is also suitable for tight radii (R1 / 600 mm). An integrated energy storage unit ensures an uninterrupted power supply. The smokebox door can be opened and provides a view of an imitation of the smokebox. The cab doors are also movable.
Design & true to the original
The model is painted and lettered true to the original, including the warning corners and the computerized locomotive number with self-check digit. Many applied details, such as handle bars, piping and lettering elements, round off the authentic appearance. The factory signs are missing - in keeping with the historical prototype - which makes the model a special contemporary witness.
Who is this model suitable for?
The LGB 21484 is aimed at garden railroaders, narrow gauge fans and model railroaders with a soft spot for Era IV and GDR railroad history. The robust technology, coupled with excellent attention to detail, makes it both an operating favorite and a collector's item.
