Märklin 38900 H0 Class 2159 Dual Power Locomotive - ELP / DB AG, Era VI with mfx+ Sound
The Märklin 38900 is an ultra-modern class 2159 (Stadler Eurodual) dual-power locomotive that is operated by European Loc Pool AG (ELP) and leased to Deutsche Bahn AG. The model represents the current operating status from 2023 and bears the road number 2159 207-0. With its traffic red paintwork, highly detailed design and extensive digital equipment, it is a real highlight for modern Era VI layouts.
The model is based on a completely new design and consists of a highly detailed metal version. The detailed roof design with two newly designed pantographs, which can be raised and lowered digitally, is particularly striking. The driveable fan wheels on the roof can also be controlled digitally and underline the technical sophistication of this model. Many separately attached parts such as grab rails, sandboxes, UIC sockets and roof cables further enhance the visual authenticity.
The controlled high-performance drive with flywheel mass is installed centrally and drives two axles per bogie via cardan shafts. Traction tires ensure optimum traction - even with heavy trains. An integrated buffer storage unit ensures uninterrupted operation on short sections without power.
The locomotive is equipped with an mfx+ digital decoder and offers a variety of operating and sound functions. The LED lighting includes a three-light headlight that changes depending on the direction of travel, two red marker lights and separately switchable high beams. There is also a double A-light function, cab lighting (direction-dependent) and digitally switchable engine room and coupling compartment lighting. All of the lights are maintenance-free and are warm white/red.
With a length over buffers of 26.4 cm and the buffer height according to NEM, the locomotive is fully compatible with other H0 vehicles. The close couplers with kinematic guidance ensure a realistic transfer of cars. Brake lines, screw couplers and closed rail clearers are also included as separately attachable parts.
The Märklin class 2159 is ideal for model railroaders who are looking for a powerful locomotive with modern equipment for cross-border freight service on current layouts. With its innovative technology, digital controllability and high-quality appearance, it meets the highest demands for a modern H0 model of Era VI.
