Ore for the Blast Furnace – Märklin H0 DB Id Ore Self-Unloading Car Set
With the Märklin 46221 Id-Class Ore Self-Unloading Car Set, you can add a highly detailed car set to your H0 layout that realistically depicts iron ore transport in the early 1950s. The three four-axle cars of the OOtz 44 type from the Deutsche Bundesbahn are ideal for blast furnace-themed trains—complete with authentic ore cargo in scale-accurate grain size.
The Prototype – Mass Iron Ore Transport
The OOtz 44-type cars were developed specifically for transporting heavy bulk cargo such as iron ore. Their very low upper body and high load-carrying capacity made them the top choice for raw material transport—especially for smelting plants and the steel industry. The cars featured pressed-sheet-metal bogies with a welded-in crossbeam for reinforcement.
Highly Detailed Model with Realistic Loading
The set consists of three differently numbered cars, each with a brakeman’s platform, a front-end adjusting wheel, and a body faithful to the original. All cars are equipped with cargo inserts coated with real iron ore in scale-accurate grain size—for maximum authenticity in layout operation. The cars are individually packaged and additionally enclosed in protective outer packaging.
The perfect addition to blast furnace trains
Combine this set with other blast furnace cars such as 46014, 46047, 46146, and 48678, as well as the BR 80 steam locomotive (Item No. 37066) to create a complete blast furnace train.
