Piko 21060 H0 E-Lok BR 119, DB, Ep. IV Product Details
PIKO 21060 - H0 Class 119 (E 19) electric locomotive, DB, Era IV
The Piko 21060 brings one of the most elegant and fastest electric locomotives in German railroad history to the model world: the class E 19, later known as the BR 119. The prototype of this locomotive was built at the end of the 1930s for high-speed lines - with a planned maximum speed of 180 km/h and reserves beyond that. It was used by the Deutsche Bundesbahn (DB) in Era IV and is still considered a technical and design masterpiece today.
The model shows the locomotive in its late period of service with the DB - including typical Era IV standard lamps, pantographs of the type SBS 39/54 as well as the finest add-on parts such as centrifugal governors, UIC cans, sandboxes and axle bearing covers. The locomotive was taken out of service in 1978, but the preserved E 19 01 still bears witness to the former pioneering role of this class in electric high-speed traffic.
Detailing & faithfulness to the prototype
The model has a highly detailed body with fine handles, separately attached windshield wipers, roof lines and insulators. The control panel and driver's cab lightingcan be switched digitally - ideal for atmospheric night-time driving and realistic driver's views.
Digitally prepared & sound-capable
Equipped with a PluX22 interface in accordance with NEM 658, the model is ready for retrofitting a sound decoder (e.g. PIKO #56660). In analog operation, the locomotive is fully functional, digitally it offers numerous additional possibilities.
Lighting & technology
A white/red light change depending on the direction of travel is just as much a part of the equipment as switchable cab lighting in digital operation. The locomotive is suitable for use on all standard H0 layouts with a minimum radius of 358 mm and has two traction tires for stable traction.
Compatibility & operation
With a length over buffers of 195 mm and the NEM shaft with close coupler link, the locomotive can be perfectly integrated into DB trains of Era IV - whether in express or prestige passenger trains.
