Piko 21778 H0 E-Lok BR 110.3 orientrot, DB AG, Ep. V, AC-Sound Product Details
PIKO 21778 - H0 Electric locomotive BR 110.3 orient red, DB AG, Era V, alternating current with sound
The BR 110.3 electric locomotive in orient red livery with bib is one of the best-known features of Deutsche Bahn AG in Era V. With the Piko 21778, a novelty is being released in 2026 that brings this characteristic design back to the model railroad tracks as an AC model with full sound equipment in H0. Equipped with a factory-fitted PIKO sound decoder and large loudspeaker, this model offers an impressive combination of authentic design and state-of-the-art technology.
Ideal for fans of the 1990s and AC digital layouts, the locomotive brings the typical appearance of the DB AG to model railway operation in a realistic way - complete with digital lighting functions, high-quality paintwork and powerful traction.
Digital equipment with AC sound
The locomotive is factory-equipped with a PluX22 sound decoder and prepared for 3-wire AC operation. The integrated loudspeaker produces a powerful and realistic locomotive sound: starting noise, brake squeal, traction motor buzzing and more can be called up digitally with precision. Perfect for realistic operation on Märklin-compatible layouts.
Lighting & additional functions
The direction-dependent lighting in white/red is equipped with energy-saving LEDs. In addition, the cab lighting can be switched digitally via the decoder - as can the engine room lighting (if activated). This means that the locomotive not only offers a prototypical effect during the day, but also in twilight and night scenarios.
Technical data & compatibility
With a length over buffers of 189 mm and a minimum radius of 358 mm, the locomotive is suitable for all standard H0 AC layouts. Thanks to the NEM shaft with close coupler link, the model can be easily connected to other wagons. Two traction tires ensure safe traction in regular operation.
True to the prototype of Era V
The oriental red paint scheme with bib was characteristic of many DB AG locomotives in Era V. The class 110.3 was a real all-round talent in passenger transport and was used in both inter-regional and local transport. The model accurately reflects this period and is ideal for depicting typical train sets of the 1990s.
Scope of delivery
Included is the fully digitized electric locomotive with sound decoder and loudspeaker, operating instructions and accessories for visual refinement.
Target group & area of application
The model is ideal for model railroaders with Märklin systems or 3-wire systems who place particular value on digital control and authentic sound. It is perfect for Era V layouts and is a real eye and ear-catcher in everyday model railroad operation.
