PIKO 21790 - H0 Electric locomotive class 139 green, DB, Era IV, AC with sound
With the Piko 21790, PIKO brings another 2026 novelty to the model railroad tracks: the class 139 electric locomotive in the classic green livery of the German Federal Railroad. This AC version with factory-fitted sound decoder and large loudspeaker is a real highlight for AC digital layouts. The class 139 was a reliable all-rounder in passenger and freight traffic for decades - the model authentically reproduces this character in H0 with a powerful sound.
The locomotive belongs to Era IV, one of the most popular periods in model railroading, and impresses with its high level of detail, prototypical color scheme and digitally controllable functions - ideal for all those who want to combine classic DB scenarios with modern technology.
Digital technology & AC sound equipment
The model is designed for 3-wire alternating current (AC) operation and has a factory-fitted PluX22 sound decoder. The integrated loudspeaker produces realistic driving sounds, including starting, motor humming, brake squeal and signal horn. The functions can be conveniently controlled via your digital control center - an acoustic experience for every Era IV layout.
Lighting & digital highlights
The locomotive is equipped with a white/red light change depending on the direction of travel, implemented with long-life LED technology. There is also digitally switchable driver's cab lighting and digitally switchable engine room lighting. These features bring additional realism to your layout in the dark or in the staging yard.
Technical data & compatibility
With a length over buffers of 190 mm and a minimum radius of 358 mm, the locomotive is suitable for all standard H0 AC layouts. The NEM shaft with close coupler link enables a close and reliable connection with other cars. Two traction tires provide the necessary tractive force, even with heavier train sets.
True to the original - The green Federal Railroad of the 70s
In Era IV, green-painted electric locomotives such as the BR 139 characterized the image of the German Federal Railroad. This locomotive was used in local traffic, express train service and freight traffic throughout Germany. The model reproduces this appearance exactly and is perfect for depicting typical train formations of the 1970s and early 1980s.
