The Piko Gkks of the Danish State Railways (DSB) brings a typical covered freight car of Era IV to your model railroad layout. As a robust means of transport for sensitive or weather-sensitive goods, this type of wagon was an integral part of northern and central European freight traffic - now available in a finely detailed version as a 2025 novelty.

Detailing & design - simple, robust, realistic

The wagon has free-standing steps, a detailed reproduction of the wagon sides including sliding doors and a robust design with very good rolling characteristics. The Gkks design was ideal for single wagonload traffic, parcel freight and smaller piece goods, making it a versatile companion on main and branch lines.

Prototype: DSB Gkks - Era IV universal freight car

The DSB Gkks wagons were widely used and were used in both domestic and international traffic. Especially in traffic with Germany and Sweden, these wagons were regularly found in mixed trains. In Era IV, covered wagons like this one dominated general cargo traffic on European state railroads.

Model operation & compatibility

The car is suitable for DC systems with a minimum radius of 358 mm. Equipped with an NEM shaft and close coupler link, it is also ideally suited for realistic train formations. The car can be easily converted to AC current using AC exchange wheel sets (item no. 56060).
