The prototype: The BR 130 of the Deutsche Reichsbahn
The class 130, also known as the "Ludmilla", was developed for the Deutsche Reichsbahn in the 1970s and was one of the most powerful diesel locomotives of its time. In Era IV (1968-1985), the class 130 was mainly used in heavy freight traffic, but also in passenger traffic. With its striking design, especially the angular roof ventilators, it was a defining element of East German rail transport.
PIKO - Power and precision in G gauge
The model of the BR 130 from PIKO impresses with its faithful reproduction of the original, including the characteristic roof vents and the solid appearance. The factory-fitted driver's cab and engine room lighting can be optionally retrofitted (#36017), while the steam function can be retrofitted for additional realism. The PSD XP sound decoder offers a variety of prototypical soundscapes that bring operation to life.
Era IV: An era of power
Era IV was characterized by powerful locomotives such as the BR 130, which were indispensable for handling heavy freight trains and demanding line services. The PIKO model brings the characteristic features of this impressive locomotive to your garden railway layout in true detail.
Technology and equipment of the BR 130
The locomotive is factory-equipped with a powerful PSD XP sound decoder, which enables extensive sound functions. The direction of travel-dependent light change in white/red provides additional prototypical fidelity. With two traction tires, the locomotive offers excellent traction, while the steam function can be retrofitted for an even more realistic operating experience. The minimum radius of 600 mm allows flexible use on a wide variety of layouts.
Why the BR 130 is a must for G gauge
The BR 130 DR Era IV sound diesel locomotive combines impressive technology, prototypical design and flexible application options. Whether in freight traffic or as a solo locomotive - this model is a guarantee for realistic driving fun and an enrichment for every garden railway layout.
