Piko 50707 H0 steam locomotive BR 62, DRG, Ep. II Product Details
Piko 50707 H0 Steam Locomotive BR 62, DRG, Ep. II - The Fast Tank Locomotive of the Unified Locomotive Era
The Piko H0 steam locomotive BR 62 of the Deutsche Reichsbahn-Gesellschaft (DRG) is a tribute to one of the most elegant tank locomotives of the standardized design. Based on the ideas of the never realized BR 20, Henschel developed a powerful, fast hot steam locomotive with the distinctive 2'C2' axle arrangement on behalf of the Reichsbahn-Zentralamt in 1928. The 62 was designed for fast local and light express trains - here prototypically implemented for Era II.
Technically ingenious & visually convincing
The model impresses with fine wheel spiders, detailed brake linkage and a filigree ingot frame with a clear view in the engine area. The driver's cab lighting, firebox lighting and running gear lighting can be switched digitally (with decoder retrofitting via PluX22). A steam generator can also be retrofitted to make the steam experience perfect.
BR 62 - An elegant standard locomotive with limited distribution
Of the 15 locomotives originally ordered, only two (62 001 and 002) were immediately taken over and used in the Ruhr area. It was not until 1932 that the remaining locomotives entered DRG service. Despite the small number of units, the class 62 remained an impressive example of German standard locomotive technology.
Prepared for digital operation
Equipped with a NEM 658 PluX22 digital interface, the model can be quickly digitized. A PIKO sound decoder (#56630) is optionally available. A steam generator (#56163) can also be retrofitted for an even more intensive driving experience.
