Piko 50730 H0 Steam locomotive BR 91.3 DB Era III - A model of the top class

The Piko 50730 H0 steam locomotive BR 91.3 is a real highlight for model railroad fans. This detailed replica of the German Federal Railroad steam locomotive from Era III combines historical authenticity with innovative technology. The BR 91.3 is a perfect addition to any H0 model railway layout and offers a wide range of possible uses - from passenger and freight trains to shunting services. With this model, Piko has captured the fascination of the railroad of days gone by in a high-quality replica.

The prototype of the Piko BR 91.3 steam locomotive

The T 9.3, later classified as BR 91.3, was manufactured in the Königsberg Union Foundry from 1901. It was one of the most frequently built steam locomotives of its time and was used for both freight and passenger transportation. With a top speed of 65 km/h and its reliability, it became an irreplaceable machine for the Prussian State Railroad and later for the German Reichsbahn (DR) and the German Federal Railroad (DB).

During Era III, when the railroads in Germany were modernizing, the class 91.3 was a familiar sight on the rails. With its robust design and versatility, it shaped the image of the German Federal Railroad. Piko has realized this historical heritage with great care and attention to detail in the model.

Piko - A brand with tradition and quality

Piko, based in Sonneberg, Thuringia, stands for outstanding model railroads. The Expert series from Piko, which includes the BR 91.3, is known for its attention to detail and technical sophistication. This model is an example of the company's innovative strength and offers both beginners and experienced model railroaders an exceptional driving experience.

Era III - The golden age of steam locomotives

Era III (1945-1970) was an era of reconstruction and transition. During this time, steam locomotives such as the BR 91.3 dominated rail traffic before they were gradually replaced by diesel and electric locomotives. This model brings the atmosphere of this fascinating era to your model railway layout.

Design and technical features

The Piko BR 91.3 impresses with a number of technical and visual highlights. The rounded cab roof, the detailed coal box with flaps and the fine spoked wheels made of die-cast zinc are evidence of model building at the highest level. The free-standing components such as the whistle, bell and true-to-original lamps make the locomotive a real eye-catcher. State-of-the-art LED technology ensures maintenance-free lighting, including direction-dependent light changes in white and red as well as digitally switchable driver's cab lighting and firebox flickering.

Why the Piko 50730 BR 91.3 is a must for model railroaders
