The Piko H0 steam locomotive BR 91.3 of the Deutsche Reichsbahn is a faithful reproduction of the Prussian T 9.3 in service with the DR in Era III. After the Second World War, around 230 locomotives remained in the Soviet occupation zone and were taken over into the DR fleet by 1949. They shaped branch line operation until the early 1970s - presented here in a completely new design with numerous technical refinements.

Model highlights & digital options

The model impresses with digitally switchable driver's cab, running gear and firebox lighting (can be retrofitted via a PluX16 decoder), a raised coal box, fine die-cast zinc wheels and free-standing details such as cables, lamps and grab rails. The filigree brake linkage and the detailed interior make this locomotive a real eye-catcher - on the layout as well as in the display case.

The BR 91.3 - workhorse on the last meters of steam operation

The former Prussian tender locomotive T 9.3 was used after the war by the DR in East Germany for passenger and freight traffic on branch lines. In Era III, it was a familiar sight on rural lines before it was finally taken out of service in 1971. PIKO is reproducing this chapter with high precision in H0 scale.
