After reunification in 1989, travel between the FRG and the GDR was suddenly simplified. This sudden development meant that the railroad administrations of East and West reached their limits. In order to meet the resulting demand, the transport capacity of the few existing "small border traffic" connections between the GDR and FRG was increased with all available vehicles. The TOFT train set from PIKO takes up such a situation and thus represents a year full of emotions, upheavals, hopes and colorful train sets.
