The BB 60000 is a modern French diesel locomotive developed by Vossloh. It was designed for heavy shunting and light freight train service and impresses in daily operation with its high efficiency, ease of maintenance and robust construction. A characteristic feature is the central driver's cab, which provides good visibility and optimum weight distribution. The locomotive reaches a top speed of 100 km/h and is now an integral part of SNCF's everyday operations.

Finely detailed design with modern construction features

The PIKO 96493 model impresses with numerous intricate details. These include sharply engraved bogie covers, fine fan grilles and free-standing railings and handrails. The driver's cab is also fully equipped. The design is closely based on the prototype and reflects the typical appearance of modern SNCF series of Era VI.

Digitally prepared and individually expandable

The locomotive is equipped with an NEM 658 PluX22 digital interface and is therefore prepared for digital operation. The cab lighting can be switched separately after installing an appropriate decoder. Retrofitting with a PIKO sound decoder (item no. 56527) is also planned and easy to implement. The direction of travel-dependent light change in white/red is already installed at the factory and contributes to the realistic effect in layout operation.

Solid technology for direct current operation

With a length over buffers of 176 mm, the locomotive is suitable for a wide range of applications on H0 DC layouts. Two traction tires ensure reliable traction even under load. Thanks to the NEM shaft and close coupler link, the BB 60000 can be easily integrated into existing sets of cars. The minimum radius of 358 mm also allows use on compact layouts with narrower track.
