With the Piko 97508 electric locomotive 1008, PIKO brings a special piece of Dutch railroad history to the H0 DC layout. The locomotive belongs to the legendary class 1000 of the Dutch State Railways (NS), which was originally based on the Swiss prototype Ae 4/6, but was modified for use in the Dutch DC network.

Historical prototype with realistic implementation

The locomotive, which was used between 1948 and 1982, was originally used for express train services, but was mainly used for freight train services. The replica of the model impresses with two fine metal pantographs, a harmonious paint scheme and sharply contoured lettering. The locomotive number 1008 reflects the operating condition of Era III.

Sound and light functions included

The model is equipped with a factory-fitted PIKO PluX22 sound decoder and offers a variety of realistically reproduced sounds via the PIKO TrainSound® onboard system. In addition, the driver's cab and engine room are digitally illuminated - for maximum fidelity to the prototype during operation.

With a length over buffers of 187 mm, NEM shafts with close coupler link and a direction-dependent light change in white/red, the locomotive is also technically state-of-the-art. Two traction tires ensure reliable tractive power, even with long freight trains.
