The Piko 97837 diesel locomotive SP 9022 is a detailed replica of the legendary American KM 4000 diesel locomotive in its modified version. This DC model exactly reproduces the condition of the locomotive in the mid-1960s - with all the special features of the Southern Pacific Railroad in terms of construction and color.

Modified body with characteristic details

The SP locomotives, which were originally almost identical in construction, developed individually over the years. PIKO has consistently implemented these changes: Side air intake grilles, filter boxes, roof vents and exposed exhaust systems with flap valves have been precisely modeled. The color differences between the SP 9022 and other machines in the series - such as the SP 9100 - are also accurately represented.

A powerful engine with two balanced flywheels ensures smooth running and reliable performance. The model has direction-dependent lighting in white/red, which is designed in modern LED technology and can be switched digitally.

Digitally prepared - analog ready for use

The model is equipped with a PluX22 digital interface and is therefore optimally prepared for the installation of a sound decoder. For analog drivers, the locomotive is ready for immediate use, but can easily be upgraded to digital operation if required.
