The Piko 97839 diesel locomotive SP 9022 brings a powerful and characterful model of American railroad history to your H0 AC layout. This modified version of the KM 4000 locomotive in Southern Pacific (SP) livery represents the condition of the locomotive in the mid-1960s - including all typical conversions and livery details.

Faithful reproduction with modified details

In the course of their time in service, the originally almost identical SP KM 4000 engines developed into individually modified vehicles. PIKO has implemented the structural characteristics of this era exactly. The special features include modified air intake grilles, additional filter boxes, roof vents and exposed exhaust systems with flap valves. The locomotive has also been painted exactly as the prototype - including the specific paintwork of the SP 9022.

A powerful motor with balanced flywheels ensures smooth running and high tractive power. The locomotive is equipped with the latest LED technology, which allows the lights to change in white/red depending on the direction of travel. All light functions can be switched digitally.

Factory-fitted with sound - digital and realistic

The locomotive is equipped with a PIKO PluX22 sound decoder and a powerful loudspeaker. The decoder provides realistic operating sounds and many additional functions for an immersive driving experience on your digital layout. Thanks to the NEM 658 interface, the locomotive is technically up to date - but without an NEM coupling shaft, which is in keeping with the US prototype.
