To mark the 25th anniversary of Austria's accession to the EU, the European Commission and ÖBB put a locomotive in EU design on the rails. Since 3 July 2020, the EU locomotive has been on the move throughout Austria and neighboring countries, sending a strong signal for the Green Deal, which aims to make Europe a climate-neutral continent by 2050 at the latest. ÖBB's Taurus locomotives have an hourly output of 6,400 kW and can reach speeds of up to 230 km/h.
