Roco 6600248 H0 Set of 2 Covered Postal Freight Cars, DBP, Ep. IV - Special Cars for Postal Traffic in Berlin
With the Roco 6600248 set of Deutsche Bundespost covered mail freight cars, you can bring authentic vehicles from the Berlin postal traffic of the 1980s to your H0 layout. The two models of the class Post 2s-t/11 are based on the DB type Gos 245 and Gos-uv 245 and were provided by the DB for the Federal Post Office in 1981. Characteristic: Although they were freight wagons, these vehicles bore passenger coach numbers - a special detail for all those who value historical accuracy.
Typical design of Berlin postal logistics
The set consists of two differently equipped cars: One of the cars has a classic brakeman's platform, while the second is equipped with a heating cable for the first time - a technical feature that made it easier to use in cold winters. Both vehicles have prototypical lettering and are painted in the typical postal yellow of DBP Era IV.
True to the original down to the last detail
The wagons were all stationed at the OPD Hanover and were mainly used in and around Berlin. There they served postal stations, transshipment centers and connections to long-distance traffic. They were used until around 1992 - perfect for realistic scenes between the 1980s and early 1990s. Despite their freight car design, they were classified as passenger coaches and treated accordingly.
Technically sound and versatile to combine
Both wagons have NEM 362 coupler pockets with close coupler kinematics for close wagon transitions and smooth operation. They are designed for DC operation, but can easily be converted for Märklin systems with AC wheel sets (item no. 40183). With an overall length of 293 mm over buffers, the set is ideal for prototypical trains with additional railroad mail cars or as a supplement to Federal Post Office locomotives such as the Roco diesel locomotive no. 1 (DBP).
A must for Era IV and postal traffic fans
This set is ideal for anyone who wants to integrate a piece of postal history into their model world. Whether in shunting operations, as part of a continuous mail train or in classic Berlin city traffic - the DBP covered mail freight cars are versatile and add a special touch to any layout.
