Roco 70453 electric locomotive Rh 1043, ÖBB, Ep. IV

In order to fulfill ÖBB's wish for the rapid delivery of new locomotives for freight traffic on the Tauern Railway, four locomotives were diverted from a Swedish type Rc 2 series currently under construction. The locomotives equipped with thyristor technology proved themselves well and a total of ten locomotives were delivered by 1974. Hardly any other ÖBB series had such a wide range of lettering variants during its service life.
