Roco 71089 diesel locomotive BR 221, DB, Ep. IV (incl. sound) Product Details
In order to cope with the increased volume of traffic on the non-electrified main lines, the Deutsche Bundesbahn purchased a total of 50 V 200.1 series locomotives from 1962 onwards. They differed from their predecessors in that they had more powerful engines. These were required for ever longer and therefore heavier passenger trains. The main areas of use included the routes between Kempten and Lindau, Offenburg and Constance as well as the famous Vogelfluglinie between Germany and Denmark. During their service life, the locomotives were later redesignated as class 221 and often received an ocean blue-beige paint scheme.
