Roco 7110039 H0 Steam locomotive 50 2146-4, DR, Ep. III-IV, DC sound - new-build version with digital sound image
The Roco 7110039 steam locomotive 50 2146-4 is a faithfully reproduced model of the German State Railroad in eras III-IV. With its typical 3-domed boiler design, Witte wind deflectors and a new construction tender, it is an impressive example of the frequently used freight locomotives that remained in service for a long time, especially in eastern Germany. This model also has an impressive integrated digital sound decoder to enhance the acoustics of operation on your layout.
Prototype with new construction tender from Zwickau
The 50 2146 was stationed in the Zwickau depot of the Dresden station and was one of the locomotives that were coupled with new construction tenders of the 23.10 and 50.40 series. This tender combination was not very popular with staff in winter due to the lack of a continuous rear wall, but reflects a typical appearance of the post-war period. With this realization, the model combines historical authenticity with fine detail solutions.
Fine details and realistic design
The model is characterized by a red-brown chassis paint scheme, lamps with handlebars on the front buffer beam and filigree metal wheel sets. In combination with the striking boiler and the Witte wind deflectors, an authentic image of a DR freight locomotive from the 1960s to 1970s is created.
Powerful drive with sound
The locomotive is driven by two axles in the tender, with power being transmitted to all five driving axles of the locomotive via cardan shafts. The locomotive has a total of seven driven axles, two of which have traction tires. A flywheel mass ensures smooth running. The factory-fitted PluX16 decoder with sound function reproduces realistic driving noises, steam strokes and other operating noises - for a particularly harmonious operating experience.
Technical equipment for model railroad operation
The locomotive has 3 headlights with LED technology at both ends of the vehicle depending on the direction of travel. Thanks to the NEM 362 coupler with close coupling kinematics on the tender, it is easy to use in train formations. With a length over buffers of 265 mm and a minimum radius of 358 mm, the model is ideal for operation-oriented layouts with prototypical radii.
